roman Berlin, Feb 14 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Jailed director Roman Polanski’s new movie ‘The Ghost Writer’ is all set to premiere at the Berlin Film Festival, but the director is under house-arrest in Switzerland. This new movie – ‘The Ghost Writer’ is based on Robert Harris’s novel. The author hopes that the movie will be judged on the merits alone, and not on the travails of the infamous director.

“Of course it is a very unforeseen and distressing situation to offer a film to the public without its director. Showing it without him is a bit like having Hamlet without the Prince of Denmark. But in a way, it is the best riposte to just show his work. That cannot be confined or silenced. I hope people will see beyond the controversy to the film itself,” Harris said.

Roman Polanski made other classics like “Rosemary’s Baby” and “Chinatown” and “The Pianist”. He also won an Academy Award for the movie ‘The Pianist’. It may be recalled that the noted director Roman Polanski has been wanted by the US since 1978, as he had committed a sex offense with an under-age girl, and then when the situation got too hot for him to handle, he fled from the country and didn’t go back. Then last year he was going to Zurich from France to collect an award at the city’s film festival in September. And he was arrested at the airport there.
