Roman Polanski wins legal battle against French newspaper
January 16th, 2010 - 12:48 pm ICT by ANILondon, Jan 16 (ANI): Filmmaker Roman Polanski has won legal battle against a French newspaper for invading his privacy.
A Paris court awarded Polanski 2,647 pounds in damages after Aujourd’hui en France printed pictures of him and his wife and son at their chalet in Gstaad.
The paper was found to have breached ‘The Pianist’ director’s privacy and the right to the use of his image, reports the BBC.
The 76-year old Oscar winner is under house arrest and awaiting US extradition proceedings on a 1977 sex charge.
He and his French actress wife Emmanuelle Seigner had demanded a total of 35,326 pounds.
The couple are seeking a further 66,237 pounds in cases against three other French publications. A decision is expected on Tuesday. (ANI)
