Roman Polanski bail Geneva, Nov 27 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The noted director Roman Polanski who was granted bail and would remain under electronic surveillance in his Swiss chalet, will spend some more time in jail, till all the security conditions of his bail are met. A Swiss official revealed this on Friday.

Roman Polanski can’t be placed under house arrest in his Switzerland’s chalet before Monday, because he has yet to fulfill all the requirements to ensure that he stays in his chalet in the Swiss luxury resort of Gstaad, Justice Ministry spokesman Folco Galli said.

Folco Galli did not divulge the details, he did say that the noted director must post $4.5 million bail, surrender his identity papers and be fitted with a monitoring bracelet.

Roman Polanski has been wanted by the US since 1978, as he committed a sex offense with an under-age girl, and then when the situation got too hot for him to handle, he fled from the country and didn’t go back.

Then some months ago he was going to Zurich from France to collect an award at the city’s film festival in September. And he was arrested at the airport. Since then he has been unsuccessfully trying to get bail or to be freed, but it has been rejected till now.

A former prison inmate said that he was held in a prison cell next to Roman Polanski, and said that the Oscar-winning director of “Rosemary’s Baby,” “Chinatown” and “The Pianist” was given better treatment than others.

“For example, he could regularly call his wife or his lawyers,” Yussi Akram told local Radio Top, adding that Polanski also chatted regularly with prison guards and could press an emergency button when he needed something.
