Roman Polanski Bern, July 12 (THAINDIAN NEWS) There is finally some good news for director Roman Polanski. After spending some time behind bars and also being on house arrest, he is finally a free man now, as the Swiss authorities rejected United States request to extradite him. It ought to be mentioned that he is wanted in the US on charges of having physical intercourse with a 13-year-old girl, more than 3 decades ago.

The United States government has been trying to extradite the noted director to their own country, so that they could hold a trial in the rape case, but it looks like their efforts have been in vain.

“Considering all the aspects of this case – and in particular the extradition request which is not satisfying as far as the presentation of the facts of the case is concerned and the principles of state action deriving from international public order – the extradition request has to be rejected,” the Swiss Justice Ministry said in a statement on Monday.

It ought to be recalled that Roman Polanski was alleged to have raped a 13-year-old girl, after getting her high on champagne, during a modeling shoot in 1977. In the US he was indicted on various counts, which included felony, rape charges, child molestation and sodomy.
