Rolling Stones considering 50th anniversary tour
September 3rd, 2010 - 8:15 pm ICT by IANSParis, Sep 3 (DPA) Charlie Watts, the drummer for the legendary rock group The Rolling Stones, told a French newspaper that the group was considering going on tour in 2012 to celebrate their 50 years of its existence.
“We’re discussing it at the moment. We said that if we do something, it will be next year or the year after,” the 69-year-old musician said in an interview published Friday in the French daily Le Parisien.
But Watts said that it was increasingly difficult to plan far ahead. “We’ve reached an age where you can’t look too far into the future,” he said.
The Rolling Stones came together in April 1962, led by singer Mick Jagger and guitarist Keith Richards, with Watts joining the group soon afterwards. Jagger is 67 years old, one year older than Richards.
“We will resume playing whenever Mick and Keith get bored,” Watts said. “At the moment, they’re having a good time.”
