Mumbai, Sep.20 (ANI): Designer duo Rohit and Abhishek, vowed the audiences on Sunday with their interesting designs and use of colour, as they showcased their Men’s wear spring summer 2010 collection here on the third day of the ongoing Mumbai fashion week.

Rohit and Abhishek’s collection, featured linen and cottons, satins and velvets, low-cut trousers, Jodhpurs, jackets and assorted short coats, and a mix of basic colours like white and grey with plum, purple and maroon.

The collection, titled ‘the New Pure Man’, says Rohit, was to bring about a well-dressed and fashionable Indian man.

“We are giving a direction, setting a trend, we don’t want them to follow blindly but be comfortable, and experiment. I want them to be dressed well. Normally, when we associate a well-dressed man, you always think of Italy, why not India? That’s my ideology,” Designer Rohit said.

Meanwhile, designer Sanjay Hingu presented a collection inspired by India’s freedom struggle. His designs, he said, aimed at bringing the ‘hero’ back to focus.

“I was basically influenced by the freedom fighters, who fought for us. Because of them we are breathing freely. Like Rakesh Mehra can make a movie like ‘Rang De Basanti’ which was a very big hit for the Hindi cinema, [similarly] I have brought this ‘hero’ into focus. There are a lot of [influences from] freedom strugglers on my garments,” he said.

Lakme Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2010 will host about 50 designers who would be showcasing their collection in the five-day event.

Renowned fashion designers Manish Malhotra, Narendra Kumar, Rocky S, Vikram Phadnis, Krishna Mehta, Neeta Lulla and Wendell Rodricks would also be showcasing their spectacular collections for their buyers coming from various parts of the world.

Designer Tarun Tahiliani would present the grand finale on September 23. (ANI)
