New York, July 2 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Roger Ebert’s statement that, ‘video games can never be art’ had generated a big hue and cry. He had posted this statement on his blog, and soon there were more than 4500 comments on it, which mostly bordered on disagreement.

Seeing the public hue and cry, Roger took back his words and then said on his blog that, ‘Okay, kids play on my lawn’. He also added that he shouldn’t have had written that blog entry without knowing about video games himself. After tendering his apology, he also noted that, “I should not have written that entry without being more familiar with the actual experience of video games.” He also added that he wouldn’t have reviewed a movie without watching it himself, so how could he blasted at video games without playing them and knowing about them.

He added that, “I was a fool for mentioning video games in the first place. I would never express an opinion on a movie I hadn’t seen. Yet I declared as an axiom that video games can never be Art. I still believe this, but I should never have said so. Some opinions are best kept to yourself.”
