Apr 16, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Peter Steele, the lead singer and composer for the gothic metal band “Type O Negative” passed away on the night of April 14th. The news of the singer’s death has been confirmed by a report issued by a spokesperson of the band. The singer, composer and bassist of the band “Type O Negative” died from a heart failure, says the report. The 48 year old front man of “Type O Negative” has always been in poor health since the year 2004 when the rock band had to cancel their tour of the US after Peter Steele was detected ill in a medical examination.

Peter Steele was also diagnosed with depression for which he had to be given psychiatric treatment in the year 2005 when he had been in news for all the wrong reasons. Rumors of the singer’s death in 2005 made headlines when a picture of his tombstone bearing his name and dates was posted in the official website of the band. This though turned out to be an advertising gimmick.

Meanwhile, after the news of the untimely demise of the musical artist spread, friends and fans of the singer remembered him and expressed their deep condolences. Peter Steele was the member of two bands “Carnivore” and “Fallout” before he became fully attached with “Type O Negative”, all of the bands helping him to achieve worldwide fame.

Needless to say, songs created by the cult singer has entertained fans, young and old alike, for several years. His sudden death was indeed shocking, especially at such a young age of 48. Over the course of his career, Peter Steele has produced songs which have dealt with a variety of subjects ranging from love and sex to addiction and death.
