Comedian Robin Williams was hospitalized on Wednesday after he complained of being short of breath. The 57-year old is in the Intensive Care Unit at a Miami hospital.
The actor said in a press release that doctors are checking on him and have recommended a week of rest. Williams has been on his sold-out “Weapons of Self Destruction” tour since September. It is an 80 city tour and he has already been to 11 shows in the past three weeks. The tour, according to his website, runs till the end of April and the first of May covering 80 dates in all including sold out dates on the Broadway.
Williams will be back on stage on Monday in Jacksonville, Fla. according to reports, to resume his tour. He will move on to Santa Barbara, CA. from there according to the schedule on his website.
The funnyman had to cancel four South Florida performances of his one-man show “Weapons of elf Destruction” when he complained of shortness of breath and doctors at the hospital advised him to take total rest from his hectic travel and show routine.
He had been scheduled to perform on Wednesday and today at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Fla, Friday at the UCF Arena in Orlando and Saturday at the Sundome in Tampa. He confirmed that the four canceled shows will be postponed to a later date and tickets for the canceled shows will still be valid when the new dates are announced.
