robin2May 16, (THAINDIAN NEWS) This Friday Hollywood opened yet another awaited film from its stable, but film buffs this weekend do not seem to be interested much. The film that we are talking about here is Sir Ridley Scott’s “Robin Hood”. The verdict for the film is out and analysts have apparently not shown much interest in the movie. The Russel Crowe starrer got off well at the box office though with an estimated collection of $13.1 million on the very first day. However it is being said that the audience remember more of the 1990s version of “Robin Hood” than this year’s release.

Critics have gone ahead and dismissed the film completely, saying that they were not even sure why Russell Crowe and Sir Ridley Scott had to come together to make such a film. Considering that the negative costs for the film had reached an amount of $237 million, the first day’s earnings are a meager figure in comparison.

Ten years have passed in between since the actor - director duo came together during the filming of “Gladiator” which was one of the most successful films of not only Hollywood but also in the career of Russel Crowe. Ten years later things have obviously changed and the viewers have not enjoyed the duo’s outing this time round.

With both “Iron Man 2″ and “Robin Hood” at the theaters this weekend, the Hollywood film analysts were sure of the fact that there would have been stiff competition for both films to make it big at the box office. The race has just begun and we should longer a little longer before declaring that “Robin Hood” is just a mediocre production.
