London, Oct 31 (ANI): Rock star Robert Plant has revealed how he was ready to turn his back on Led Zeppelin and become a teacher following the death of his son.
The 62-year-old said that the death of his six-year-old son Karac Pendragon from a virus in 1977 made him think over his life again and as a result he decided to quit the band.
“All of us had been thinking about what would happen next because the illusion had run its course”, the Daily Express quoted Plant as saying.
“I’d already lost my boy and then you think: ‘I really have to decide what to do.’ I applied to become a teacher in the Rudolf Steiner education system.
“I was accepted to go to teacher training college in 1978. I was really quite keen to just walk”, added Plant.
But in the end it was the band’s drummer, John Bonham, who convinced Plant that training as a teacher would not be right for him. (ANI)
