hunk Robert Pattinson is now willing to leave behind his vampire image behind him and wants to take forward his music career ahead through his next dream project. However, the actor will do it by acting only. He has become obsessed to play the folk legend Jeff Buckley in a film on the American singer.

However, the 24-year old actor has tough competition for it as there are other actors also, who are looking forward to this project. Pattinson has earlier written songs for the Twilight saga, so he considers himself a strong contender. He thinks that the role can earn him an edge over his rivals.

A source was quoted saying that Robert is obsessed with the project and he is ready to do anything to get the role. The source added that the actor has already informed his business team, his passion about the film and they also consider it to be a role that can take him to the Oscar nomination.

However, Robert will have to compete with American actor James Franco and James Marsden to get the final call.

Buckley became a cult figure in 1997 in Memphis, Tennessee, where he was drowned at the age of 30.

Michelle Sy, the producer of the film said that he has met some actors, who have shown interest to play the role and Robert is one of them.

Mary Guibert, the 62-year old mother of the dead singer said that she is flattered that Robert has been linked with this project.
