Robert Leckie Lives Again In “The Pacific”

robert1Mar 29, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Author Robert Leckie has come alive once more in the HBO mini-series, The Pacific, which is currently being aired. The role of the author is being essayed by veteran actor James Badge Dale, who is known for his portrayal of the character of Samson Dawlish in the series “The Black Donellys,” which comes on NBC. However, his portrayal of Robert Leckie is being touted as his best work on television so far, and it has brought back all the attention on the author, who had long diminished in the recesses of obscurity with the passage of time.

However, with “The Pacific” being aired on national and international television, Robert Leckie is once more back in the limelight; in fact, he is grossing immense attention, thanks to the fact that he is the protagonist of the series, if he can be called so in a story that is mostly based on the plights of the soldiers during the second world war. Produced by Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks, “The Pacific” is a vivid tale of the journey undertaken by the young soldiers after the United States entered the war, and describes in vivid detail the hardships faced by them in post-Pearl Harbor America.

One such soldier was Robert Leckie, who is best remembered as the author of a number of books that had been based on his experiences as a member of the United States Marine Corps. Having signed up with the Marine Corps, Robert Leckie later became a machine gunner, and also acted as an intelligence scout for a short while. His books on the military history of the United States are highly popular.
