Robert J. Halderman Produced In Court, Pleads Not Guilty

New York, Oct 3, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Robert J. Halderman has been arrested on charges of hatching an elaborate extortion plot against the immensely popular late night talk show host, David Letterman. The news regarding the extortion plot was brought to light by Letterman on Thursday’s episode of the “Late Show With David Letterman,” when he declared in front of the camera that he had been the victim of an extortion attempt recently.
According to various news sources, it has been reported that the accused is an employee of the CBS network true crime show “48 Hours.” After Halderman was indicted of the charges of the extortion, the network had suspended him during the pending investigation.
Halderman has been produced in the court on Friday, handcuffed and dressed in blue striped dress shirt. Manhattan District Attorney Robert Morgenthau read out the charges of the which he has been indicted. According to reports, it has been stated that the CBS New producer has entered a not guilty plea to all charges, in the court.
Reportedly, the District Attorney had requested for Halderman’s bail bond to be set at a whooping $500,000, bringing in to account that Halderman’s action had steeped from a deep seated “desperation” which are every bit as “alarming” as it is “dangerous.” The claim was countered by Halderman’s attorney, who asked for the bail amount to be set at $100,000. Ultimately the judge settled upon $200,000 as the bail bond, which was deposited by Halderman on the afternoon of Friday and he was set free. The next hearing for the case has been scheduled for a hearing on the Nov. 10.
