Robert Halderman New York, Mar 9 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Robert Halderman was the person who blew the lid on the fact that David Letterman used to sleep around on the sets of his show, with the female employees. When he had learnt of this secret, then he tried to mint money from it, by trying to extort money from the talk show host David Letterman. The plan backfired as David Letterman spilled his beans on air, and Robert Halderman was subsequently arrested on charges of extortion. And now he is ready to plead guilty in Lower Manhattan.

He is going to spend some time behind bars, for his unsuccessful bid to extort $2 million from David Letterman, after he learnt that his girlfriend had also slept with the talk show host. If he is convicted then he could even spend up to 15 years in jail. “The issue is your client does not want this information public,” Halderman told Letterman’s attorney in a secretly taped conversation, according to prosecutors. “I have said, for a price, I will sign a confidentiality agreement and I will not make this information public. That’s, that’s the deal.”

It may be recalled that Robert Halderman was a 51 year old producer of the CBS News show 48 Hours, prior to being an extortionist. After his arrest, David Letterman apologized on air to his wife Regina Lasko, and also to the other members of the staff. He said apologetically that his wife has been hurt a lot, by his adulterous ways, and now all these flings are a thing of the past. After his on-air admission of his adulterous ways, the Robert Halderman case gained even more prominence.
