London, Jan 1 (IANS) English singer Robbie Williams, who popped the question to girlfriend Ayda Field on radio as a joke last November, finally did it for real before ringing in the new year.
The singer proposed to Ayda in a traditional way - he dropped to one knee during a romantic evening in his Los Angeles home Tuesday and told her she is the one, reports thesun.co.uk.
“He just couldn’t help himself - he’s like an excitable puppy. He wanted to wait until midnight on New Year’s Eve to pop the question, but just couldn’t hang on. So he proposed at home on Tuesday night,” said a source close to the star.
“Despite all the previous speculation about them getting hitched Ayda was still very surprised. She was thrilled and said yes straight away,” the source added.
Williams, 35, has been dating 30-year-old Ayda for three years.
