Los Angeles, July 8 (THAINDIAN NEWS) There is rising speculation in the air that actor Rob Lowe is planning to buy Miramax Films. According to reports by TMZ, Rob Lowe is teaming up with mogul Tom Barrack in an apparent bid to buy out the company.
There were also reports that earlier Rob was planning to gang up with Formula One’s Flavio Briatore and noted restaurateur Giuseppe Cipriani in a bid to buy the company, as they wanted to build ‘a multi-platform media company, similar to DreamWorks’. But later there was a clarification by Miramax that the deal would be done only with Rob Lowe and Tom Barrack and the construction giant Ron Tutor.
The trio is planning to bid for the company to the tune of $600-$700 million. Other bidders who were in the fray think that the company isn’t worth this much at all. But apparently Rob Lowe has a different opinion on the matter, as the company has a huge back catalog of many noted movies like Pulp Fiction, Good Will Hunting and Chicago.
According to the New York Post, a source said about the deal that, “It’s fair to say Lowe’s a friend of Colony and he’ll be involved in some larger sense. They value his opinion and he has ideas.”
