Rita dies in the Season 4 Finale of Dexter

New York City, Dec 14 (THAINDIAN NEWS) In a finale that was packed with twists and turns, Dexter’s wife Rita was killed. Dexter had wanted to send Rita and his son to a safe place for their own safety, but it was not to be. When he returns home to meet his wife, then he calls her, but all he hears is the insistent ringing of her phone and his son also crying badly. He runs into the bathroom to find that Trinity had claimed his last victim – Rita, before Dexter could stop him. He finds blood on the floor, and his son sitting on the bloodied floor, crying.
Earlier in the episode, Debra manages to find out about Dexter’s origins, that he is the ice-truck killer’s biological brother. This new piece of information certainly gets her thinking. And the police also find out Trinity’s identity. But before police can make a move, the very agile Dexter kills Trinity. But what he doesn’t know is that, Trinity has already struck before and claimed a last victim that is very close to Dexter’s heart.
The finale ends on a note, which has a lot of scope for the Season 5. The grandparents are likely to get the custody of Cody and Astor, because legally Dexter never adopted them in the first place. And Dexter will raise Harrison with the care of nannies and the day-care centre. Now with Rita’s death, Dexter will get a free reign to kill the bad guys.

The season finale was certainly shocking and I felt sad, not only for rita but for dexter too. I wish people would stay away from tv, internet, and friends until they see the shocking episode for themself. It won’t be the same if people know rita is dead before they watch it. The title of this article pretty much spoils rita’s death to viewers and readers who have not yet watched the episode. I think it would have been more suitable for your title if you used words like: Shocking or Spoilers. Rather than Rita dies. No disrespect intended.

I can’t believe that Rita dies. I truely felt sad after watching the finale. Maybe Dexter was having a dream…..it’s not real…one can only hope :(

I was so very sad to see that Rita had been killed! It truly shocked the hell out of me…I did NOT see that coming. Season 5 needs to hurry up and get here! I absolutley love love love this show! I’ve seen every episode and own 1-3. I tell everyone about it, and the sad thing is, so ppl haven’t even heard of it!

I couldn’t belive it, Rita died! That was so shocking…I was really sad, its more annoying to know he can also not reveange her death because he allready killed Trinity.
Actually, this finalle was nicely done, but kinda ruined the rest of the show for me…I loved Dexter for being a winner in a losing situation, now he lost the most importent part of him, the human part.
Sucks :(

Indeed…luckily I watched the episode before any spoilers were revealed to me by media outlets and friends. I was stunned at the end of the episode. It seems too ironic that the plot would twist in the manner it did. I too hope season 5 starts off with Dexter waking up from a nightmare on the airplane on his way to the Keys, dammit!

So im at work watching dexter which is the best Tv Series out there, and i get all the way to the end of the finale and Rita dies. Like what were the producers and writers thinking. Personally I think all the Actors/Actresses were perfect. Except for trinity (John Lithgow) just something about him being in this series struck me wrong. Anyway i really hope this was just a dream of Dexters. Rita fits just right in the cast not to mention she is a gorgeous women.

I just finished watching the last episode. I had NO Idea she was going to die!! That was terrible!!! :(

holy jesus on a stick! I can’t believe it. Just finished watching the last episode. How could they do this? Rita keeps Dexter on the right path.
If I had to guess what thir plan was, over at the writer’s HQ, I’d say Rita would come back as Dexter’s good conscience, whereas Harry sort of motivates him to kill. People dear to Dexter will stay with him, to guide him further.
Then again, I could be wrong :) It’s still shocking and terrible that they killed her off. I admire the guts of the writers to do something like that… killing off a big role in a series like that!

i just finnished watching, and then typed ‘dexter rita dies’ into google. i feel exactly the same way, we all don’t want her to be dead, but shows must change. Bring on season 5!!!
when the producers do decide to finally end the whole series, it will be great. so even though i do not want it to end, when it does i won’t mind
