Ridley Scott to miss Cannes screening of Robin Hood

May 11, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): Director Ridley Scott, who is recovering from a recent surgery, won’t be able to show up at the screening of his film, Robin Hood at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival on Wednesday.

Scott recently underwent an operation on his knee and his recovery has been slower than expected by his doctors who have now ordered him to rest up and take time off from work.

In his statement, Scott said that it is with the most sincere regret that he is required to miss the opening night of the Cannes Film Festival and the screening of Robin Hood. He sent his best wishes to producer Brain Grazer and the cast of the film who will be representing the film at the festival.

Robin Hood which opens at the annual movie event in France is one of the most awaited films of this summer and has Russell Crowe and Cate Blanchett in the lead roles.

Scott’s films are known for stylish visuals and details. He has been nominated for three Academy Awards for Directing: for Thelma and Louise, Gladiator and Black Hawk Down, as well as a Golden Globe, BAFTA and Emmy Award.
