Ricky Martin Returns To Broadway With “Evita”

Ricky Martin fans have reasons to get excited as the star is returning to Broadway with the revival of “Evita” in 2012.

The musical theatrical will have Ricky Martin playing the character of Che, opposite Argentine actress Elena Roger. The musical is based on the life and love of the Argentine political leader Eva Peron.

The play would be directed by Michael Grandage under the production of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice. Rob Ashford will do the choreography for the play, again after 2006.

“Evita” was fist launched in 1978, since then it has been played by various producers for years.
The Pop Singer expressed his excitement saying that he didn’t lose the love for theatre even after doing several stage concerts.. He has previously appeared on Broadway in “Les Miserables”.

Elena Roger, who has done the same role back in 2006, received a rave review for her performance and was nominated for Olivier Awards.

“Evita” was a much liked musical, which inspired Hollywood to make a major film on this starring Antonio Banderas and Madonna.
