Ricky Gervais Set To Host Golden Globes

Apr 29, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Ace comedian Ricky Gervais has been selected for hosting the next Golden Globes Awards ceremony which will be presented jointly by Hollywood Foreign Press Association and NBC. He also hosted the ceremony for 2010 and his re-selection has surprised the comedian himself. After receiving the news the Emmy-winning comedian exclaimed that it is beyond his intelligence to understand what made the awards management to select him as the host again. His comic skills remain unsurpassed and no one can forget the fact that he played a significant part in creating ‘The Office.’ The reality talk show hosted by him also proved to be a success.
He will don the hat of the host for the 68th annual Golden Globes awards ceremony that will take place on January 16, 2011. It cannot be denied that he has a wonderful sense of humor. The viewership of the award ceremony hosted by him was 12 percent more compared to the previous year’s ceremony. He is presently occupied in working for a feature film named ‘Cemetery Junction.’
Last time the comedian had the viewers of the Golden Globes Awards ceremony in splits when he cracked jokes on the so called alcohol problems of actor Mel Gibson. His joke on Sir Paul McCartney’s divorce from Heather Mills which cost him a bomb also made the viewers burst with laughter. Philip Berk, the Golden Globes President said in his statement that he likes the style and personality of Ricky Gervais and it would be nice to see him hosting the show once more. He went on to say that this year the host will surpass himself in excellence.
