Richard Gere Washington, January 11 (ANI): Richard Gere has lent his support to the campaign in favour of turning the town of Bodhgaya into a vegetarian zone for peace.

The ‘Pretty Woman’ actor, who turned away from eating red meat 30 years ago, participated in a five-day training session with the Dalai Lama in the Buddhist town.

The 60-year-old star also joined a march to highlight the campaign created by the Tibetans for a Vegetarian Society group, reports Contactmusic.

Founder Tenzin Kunga Luding expressed his gratitude over the Hollywood heartthrob’s involvement.

Luding said: “We have been calling for this since 2006 and slowly the campaign is building up. He really was very supportive and very good to us. It has helped the cause a lot.”
