Richard Attenborough named Favourite On-Screen Father Christmas

Washington, Dec 11 (ANI): Veteran actor Sir Richard Attenborough has been named moviegoers Favourite On-Screen Father Christmas in a new poll.

The legendary actor topped Odeon’s survey of 1,200 filmgoers for his role in the 1994 remake of the classic Christmas feel-good movie Miracle on 34th Street, reports Contactmusic.

Tim Allen came second for playing the festive figure in The Santa Clause, while Tom Hanks stood third for his version of Santa in Polar Express.

Fourth slot went to Billy Bob for Bad Santa, while Ed Asner landed at the fifth position for Elf.

Another poll asked filmgoers as to who they would most like to see play Father Christmas.

According to the survey, Robbie Coltrane was the top choice followed by Bob Hoskins and Ray Winstone.

The survey also asked participants as to who would they like to play Santa’s leading lady.

Dame Judi Dench was their number one choice followed by Kate Winslet.

Favourite On-Screen Father Christmas list is as follows:

1. Richard Attenborough, Miracle on 34th Street 62 percent
2. Tim Allen, The Santa Clause 16 percent
3. Tom Hanks, Polar Express 11 percent
4. Billy Bob Thornton, Bad Santa 6 percent
5. Ed Asner, Elf 3 percent
