Rich Cronin Sep 9 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Thirty-six year old Rich Cronin, who started the boy band group ‘LFO’ or ‘Lyte Funky Ones’ has lost his battle with acute myelogenous leukemia, according to ‘TMZ’. Best known for their 1999 summer hit entitled, “Summer Girls” (embedded below) the lyrics ““I like girls that wear Abercrombie & Fitch” from that very song were penned by Cronin himself and became a common quote among Americans during that time.

Cronin’s girlfriend at that time, Jennifer Love Hewitt was featured in the video “Girls on TV” which followed that song. The band broke up in 2002, and Cronin was diagnosed in 2005. His cancer went into remission at that time, and in 2007, Cronin, Jeff Timmons of 98 Degrees, Bryan Abrams of Color Me Badd, and Chris Kirkpatrick of ‘N Sync all starred in a reality television series in which they tried to start a new band, called “Mission: Man Band”. The former boy band members showed the difficulties of being taken seriously as adult singers.

Kirkpatrick’s Facebook page was updated with the status message, “RIP to a great friend Rich C.” Lance Bass went to his Twitter account to say, ”Sad sad day that Rich Cronin died – was an amazing guy.”

Cronin, in an interview with ‘EW’ looked back on his career and said, “I am truly thankful for the success I had. And if it happens again, that’d be really nice. I’m just that same guy writing pop songs to make people happy. And I still only like girls in Abercrombie & Fitch.”

Looking at the video embedded below, made just a few short years ago, Cronin was young, vibrant, and so alive, giving weight to the thought that life is short, for Cronin, it was over far too soon. At the beginning of the song, Cronin asks, “Do You Remember?”
