Review Of Red: Can It Be Called A Action Comedy?

Director: Robert Schwentke.

Starring: Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, John Malkovich, Helen Mirren, Sarah Parker.

Review:**1/2

With a big star cast like Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman and Helen Mirren in ‘Red’, all of us expected to get an action packed comedy as it was projected like that. But when Frank Moses (Bruce Willis) as the retired CIA, appears in front of the screen it leaves us disappointed.

However, you will get a break from the very fast action sequences of today’s Hollywood thrillers. Things are a bit slowed down in ‘Red’ by the director Robert Schwentke of ‘Flightplan’ fame.

Apart from the action thing, you will wonder why the makers promised it to be an action-comedy. But the comedy element is missing somewhere and you cannot stop blaming the screenwriters Jon and Erich Hoeber.

Sarah Parker is the best thing to watch for as a federal pension-benefits worker. The former CIA-operatives were targeted and Frank realizes it following an attack at his suburban house. He then reassembles his team of CIA members and plans to wash them out. His team includes a classy but lethal Victoria (Mirren), trigger-happy conspiracy theorist Marvin (Malkovich) and nursing-home denizen Joe (Freeman). They go up against an ace CIA hit man (Karl Urban) to beat the gang.

You can catch a show of the movie this weekend if you want to know the rest of the story. If you are an action lover then it will not be a bad option.
