May 14th, 2010 - 5:19 am ICT by BNO News ( Leave a comment )LOS ANGELES (BNO NEWS) — NBC Universal has decided to cancel its long-running procedural drama ‘Law & Order,’ according to a report from Deadline Hollywood on Thursday. The media and entertainment company wouldn’t immediately confirm or deny the report.
Deadline Hollywood reported that, after long deliberations, NBC Universal decided to cancel the veteran crime drama. “This is very surprising as NBC brass had indicated lately that they would bring L&O for a record-breaking 21st season,” wrote Deadline Hollywood editor Nellie Andreeva.
At the end of the current season Law & Order will have solved countless crimes during its 456-episode run. It will tie Gunsmoke as the longest drama on television, with both having 20 seasons. Law & Order is also known for spawning several spin-offs, including a new series titled Law & Order: Los Angeles which will begin next fall.
NBC Universal would not immediately confirm or deny the report.
