LOS ANGELES (BNO NEWS) — Doctor Conrad Murray, Michael Jackson’s personal physician, will not surrender to authorities Friday, CNN and E! Online reported.
Michael Jackson’s doctor was expected in court on Friday to hear charges against him, Murray’s lawyer Ed Chernoff said on Thursday. “We are presently negotiating with the District Attorneys’ office the surrender of Dr. Murray,” Chernoff said.
But on early Friday, E! Online reported that the L.A. County District Attorney’s Office and the LAPD are at odds over the plan to let Murray surrender.
A spokeswoman for the Los Angeles County District’s Attorney Office refused to confirm they are negotiating with Murray on his surrender. The spokeswoman said everyone would be informed at the same time if and when there is an announcement.
U.S. media earlier reported that Murray is expected to be charged with involuntary manslaughter as soon as Friday, which could send him to jail for a maximum of four years if convicted. A spokeswoman for the Los Angeles County district attorney said she could neither confirm nor deny the claims.
Jackson, who was 50, died at his Los Angeles home on June 25. The LA Coroner ruled his death a homicide, mainly caused by the powerful anaesthetic Propofol.
