“Remote Control” Host Ken Ober dead

kenNov. 17, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Ken Ober was found dead in his home in Santa Monica in Los Angeles on Sunday. It has been reported that he was 52 years old at the time of his death. Lee Kernis, an employee of the firm that represented Ober, Brillstein Entertainment Partners, said that the reports of the death are true, but that the cause of the death has not yet been discovered. Kernis said that various friends of Ober have been reported as saying that the actor comedian was complaining of certain symptoms similar to a bout of the flu. He had headaches and nausea and cancelled a previously planned meeting with his friends.

Ken Ober was a stand-up comedian and actor who is better known for his stint as the MTV jockey. He worked with MTV in the 1980s, anchoring the popular show “Remote Control”. The show catapulted him to the heights of fame and popularity. The show required him to ask pop trivia questions to college going contestants and members of the audience. The charm of the show lay in the way it was conducted by Ken Ober, the easy going manner and informal atmosphere that he created. Of course, his skills from his days as a comedian kept the audience in splits.

Ken’s body is going to be sent in for an autopsy. Authorities said that it is merely routine and that no foul play is suspected in the matter. No information is currently available about his family that survives him. His death is greatly mourned by all those whose careers he helped to launch via the game show and everyone who came in contact with him.
