Reality show members remanded in 14-day police custodyAugust 14th, 2008 - 7:31 pm ICT by IANS
Kolkata, Aug 14 (IANS) Three members of a Bengali reality show were Thursday remanded in 14 days of police custody by a court in West Bengal for allegedly pushing a caretaker of a hotel from the fifth floor Saturday after he asked them to stop an all- night drinking binge. The team of “Fatafati” - a reality show aired on ETV Bangla - went to Midnapore town, 165 km from here, to shoot for a special episode Friday.
“Producers Gautam Jain and Rajiv Mehra, along with contestant Somnath Roy Chowdhury, were produced before Midnapore court Thursday after a five-day jail custody. They were again remanded in 14-day police custody,” district Superintendent of Police R.K. Singh told reporters.
Prasun Adhikari, 23, was allegedly beaten up and then pushed from the fifth floor of a hotel by Jain, Mehra, Roy Chowdhury and another contestant Romi Nag Chowdhury Saturday. He died Tuesday at SSKM Hospital.
“During interrogation, the accused said the caretaker tripped and fell down during an altercation but the police is suspecting that he was pushed,” said a police official on condition of anonymity.
Nag Chowdhury, however, fled the hotel immediately after the incident.
