Kelly Killoren Bensimon, the socialite and former model starring in New Real Housewives of New York City has ben arrested for assaulting her long time boyfriend Nick Stefanov at her Tribeca home. Stefanov claims they were engaged but Killoren says they were not, and they were apparently fighting over “usual stuff that couples fight about” when Killoren “sucker punched” him. Stefanov said his cheek was cut and he went to the police to lodge a complaint. The police then arrested Killoren for third degree assault when she surrendered a few days later. Killoren has to appear in court at the end of the month. Stefanov reportedly wailed later, “If I had done it to her, I would have been put in jail immediately … My injuries are worse than Rihanna’s — and Chris Brown was charged with two felonies.”

However Killoren’s lawyers dismissed the charges as non-substantial and said that these were only “the allegations by a jilted lover”. But media reports that Killoren is to appear in a Real Housewife episode that features a date between her and her last summer’s “boyfriend” Maximiliano Palacio seem to be in direct contrast with this incident. Maximiliano Palacio is an Argentinian polo player.

There are also questions about why the couple argued over whether or not they were really engaged. Stefanov’s story that Killoren “sucker punched” him is also being reviewed with some suspicion because he has also stated that before the punch Killoren “had the courtesy to take her [engagement] ring off first.” It seems improbable that Stefanov would sit there watching her take off her ring before she boxed him.
