R&B singer D’Angelo arrested in New York when he tried to solicit oral sex from a policewoman
March 10th, 2010 - 2:27 am ICT by Aishwarya BhattNew York, Mar 9 (THAINDIAN NEWS) R&B singer D’Angelo was arrested in New York, when he tried to solicit oral sex from a policewoman, who was also an undercover officer. He had offered her $40 for an act of oral sex. He was subsequently arrested while he was still in his vehicle – Range Rover, after he handed over $40 for the act. Later he released a statement in which he said that he was not guilty at all, and would fight all charges, as he was innocent. His statement also expressed concern for his fans, as they might jump to conclusions, when the story would break in the media, of this episode. The statement said that the public would “allow the American justice system to resolve the matter before jumping to any conclusions”.
This is not the first time that the R&B singer D’Angelo had a brush with the law. In 2005 he was awarded a 3-year suspended sentence for the possession of cocaine. Later he was also found guilty of possessing marijuana, and also for DUI. As a consequence his driving license was suspended for one and a half years.
He is also a Grammy Award winner for the best male R&B vocal performance in the year 2000 for the song – Untitled (How Does It Feel) which belonged to the album Voodoo.
