November 13, 2010 (Pen Men at Work): ‘Black Swan’, the upcoming flick of Natalie Portman in which she stars alongside Mila Kunis is expected to hit the theaters on the 3rd of December, this year. Portman is however, keen on starting her own movie for which she has written the script as well.

‘Bring Your Own’ or BYO, as it is known in short, happens to the story scripted by Portman. She is now trying to sell the idea across and is busy contacting various studios. The studio executives have described the film having a storyline which involves female Superbads. It revolves around two women, completely different from each other in character, who throw a party together. The female invitees of the party are all encouraged to bring their own partners who must compulsorily be a bachelor. The party seems to be a retaliatory gesture for the protagonists of the movie as they decide on it after their love lives turn bitter.

Portman is looking to play one of the lead roles in the film and is interested in producing it as well. Anne Hathaway is rumored to have shown an interest in portraying the other female lead of the film. There has been no confirmation of Hathaway’s interest in the project so far.

Natalie is willing to finance it independently if no studio backs her up on this one. Multiple studios have already turned it down making Portman’s chances of getting a backer very slim indeed. The project, if it comes through, will be the first film based on Portman’s script.
