New York, Oct 29 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A duet between Ray Charles and Johnny Cash has been found for the first time. It was thought that the recording had been lost but it turned up at storage. Both singers are considered legends in the music world. Unfortunately they are both no more.

The song “Why Me, Lord?” was sung in 1981 but was never released though there was a strong desire from both sides to get the song out. No form of the song was ever released and it has been kept out of the public sight until it recently came out. Kris Kristofferson originally sang the song.

The song was recently discovered after efforts from the president of the Ray Charles Foundation, Valerie Ervin. Ervin decided to hunt for the tape after he saw a reference of the tape of the song in a letter sent to Ray by Cash. The letter, which was sent by Cash, was informing Ray that he (Cash) intends to release the song and offered to share the proceeds between them. He decided to probe further and finally found the tape in a storage facility in New York.

The song is contained in a new collection of Ray’s songs entitled “Rare Genius”.
