elvis July 2 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Rare photographs of the legendary “King of Rock and Roll” were recently found in the many files which belonged to his father, and are now on display at the singer’s home in Memphis Tennessee known as “Graceland.” The exhibit which the photos are a small part of is set to remain until August 16.

Elvis Presley is seen in the pictures which belonged to his father, Vernon Presley. The young musician is seen in one of the black and white photographs greeting his fans at the gates of Graceland in 1957, when he would have been 22 years old. Experts believe that the photos were taken just after Elvis had bought the home, and the gates had been installed for added security. Only one of the photos on display has ever been published.

Angie Marchese, the archives director for Elvis Presley Enterprises shared that the negatives to these photos were found in an envelope which was not marked. It took research and scanning to discover that they had been taken over 50 years ago.

Ironically, these photos were found just as Elvis Aaron Presley’s 75th birthday anniversary celebration is about to begin, and the anniversary “tour” is kicking off. “Elvis Week” will be held at Graceland the week of August 16. Included in the tour film will be comments from Priscilla Presley and actual tour footage of the King of Rock and Roll which has also never been released.
