Rapper T.I. summoned in court over drug charges

Los Angeles, Sep 17 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Rapper T.I. has been summoned to appear before a US federal court by a judge that sentenced the rapper to one year and one day in jail in 2009 for firearms violations.

The rapper and wife Tameka Cottle were arrested on September 1 on charges of possessing controlled substance. Police stopped T.I. for making an illegal U-turn on a Hollywood street. Police found several pills that they say was later confirmed as controlled substance. The Grammy award winner will face the judge at an Atlanta courtroom on an undisclosed date.

The judge, Judge Charles Pannell Jr. has summoned the rapper to appear before him and explain why his probation should be upheld. Judge Pannell is yet to fix a date for the hearing but the rapper could be charged with three potential parole violations, which include possession of a controlled substance, testing positive for controlled drugs and associating with a convicted felon.

T.I. could potentially face some time in jail, if he fails to convince the judge not to revoke his parole. The report was silent on what happens to the wife of the rapper who was driving with the him when the incident happened on September 1.
