Los Angeles, Sep 9 (THAINDIAN NEWS) MTV has announced that this year’s Video Music Awards will be held in Los Angeles and Eminem is billed to host the event.

Eminem is nominated for eight awards and he will open the show with his performance at the night, MTV general manager - Stephen Friedman told reporters on Wednesday. Friedman said it was just great to have Eminem kick start Sunday’s event.

The show, which will take place on Sunday, will he held at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles. The organizers of the show said they have transformed the Nokia Theater for the show on Sunday. The German designer - Florian Wieder, redesigned the theater.

The makeover of the Nokia Theater required that 2,000 orchestra seats be removed to make undulating space on the stage for Sunday’s show. The theater has also been decorated with giant rotating billboards and circular performance space. There will also be two massive video screens and a curvy catwalk.

The theater has been transformed with sprawling white stage set and the night is expected to be glamorous as always. “Every year, we try to have a theme and purpose beyond just giving awards away. This year, being back in Los Angeles, we really gravitated toward mid-century modern architecture and the pop culture of the ’50s, like the youth-oriented rebellion films ‘Rebel Without a Cause’ and ‘Wild Ones.’ It’s a very L.A. kind of a set,” according to Ignjatovic.
