Oct 22, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The much awaited movie from maverick filmmaker Ram Gopal Verma, ‘Rakta Charitra’ is hitting the theaters today and the movie has already got the attention of the critics for its extent of bloodshed and violence. The film may be marked as the most violent film ever made in the history of Bollywood and one thing is clear it is not meant for those with weak hearts. However, it is to early to say how it will fare at the box office. Some of the films of the director that deal with gritty underworld- politics and corruption saga have done well at the box office while some others have turned out to be damp squibs. However, Vivek Oberoi has got rave reviews for his portrayal of Paritala Ravi the slain Andhra Pradesh political leader with a background in naxalite movements.
Rakta Charitra may do well at the box office since the actors have played their part well. Shatrughan Sinha as NTR does fine and Tamil actor Surya as the nemesis of Paritala Ravi is also praiseworthy. Vivek oberoi is happy about the film and he said in a recent interview that it could be his most powerful film so far. He is going to tie the knot soon but that does not deter him from promoting the film. He also got rave reviews years back for acting in ‘Company’ the RGV underworld saga which turned him into a star.
However, ‘Rakta Charitra’ has some serious competition at the Box office. The much awaited Snake woman saga ‘Hisss’ starring sizzling Mallika Sherawat is also hitting the screens today. Another contender is the John Abraham starrer ‘Jhootha Hi sahi’.
