October 23, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): More than two weeks have gone by and the ‘Endhiran’ fever has still not cooled down in the country. What’s more, the box office collections for the Rajinikanth – Aishwarya Rai Bachchan starrer continue to increase while other Bollywood films come and go without making its mark. Touted as the most expensive film ever made in India, ‘Endhiran’ has more than made up for its producer, the film has had a record breaking opening, and is still doing great business at the box office.
The media picture showing people of southern India queuing in front of the cinema theaters at wee hours in the morning to collect their tickets for ‘Robot’ was in itself proof of the fact that Rajinikanth’s films were and will always be a blockbuster down south. But little did anyone expect that the 60-year-old man would also sweep away the moolahs from the pockets of Mumbaiites and every Indian living all across the country. And today, ‘Endhiran or Robot has broken all previous records achieved by any Bollywood film in the past. Robot stands tall as the highest grosser of all times.
Movie critics in Bollywood are surprised by the fact that Rajinikanth could endanger the position held by the Khans in the Hindi film industry, but keeping in mind the total collections that ‘Endhiran’ has made from the past two weeks, they cannot predict as to where the ‘Endhiran’ is going to stop.
