Rajinikanth returns from Singapore

Chennai, July 14 (IANS) Tamil superstar Rajinikanth returned here Wednesday night, nearly one-and-a-half months after he flew out to Singapore for medical treatment.
The actor was accompanied by his wife Latha Rajinikanth and two daughters - Aishwarya and Soundarya.
Rajinikanth was given a rousing reception by his fans at the airport here. The actor had a few words with his fans while accepting the wishes of others by waving his hands at them.
Sources close to the family told IANS that the actor will take rest at his farmhouse near here for about a month.
The matinee idol is expected to resume shooting for the movie “Rana”, produced by Ochre Studios headed by his daughter Soundarya.
Bollywood star Deepika Padukone is cast opposite him in the movie directed by K.S. Ravikumar.
Security at the airport was beefed up as a large number of the actor’s fans turned up there when the superstar arrived here by Singapore Airlines.
Festoons, banners and posters have been put up by the actor’s fans along the roads leading to the airport.
The 60-year-old actor, who made his mark as a character actor in the movie “Aarulirunthu Arupathu Varai” (From Six to 60 Years), was flown to Singapore May 27 and admitted to the Mount Elizabeth Hospital the next day.
Rajinikanth was discharged from the hospital last month but he continued to remain in the island country for periodic check-ups and to get sufficient rest.
On May 13, he was admitted to the Sri Ramachandra Medical Centre here with fever and fluid retention following acute gastro-intestinal and respiratory problems. He was discharged from hospital May 28.
At the Sri Ramachandra Medical Centre, Rajinikanth underwent advanced treatment, including hemodialysis.
Rajinikanth was earlier admitted to St. Isabel Hospital April 29 after a bout of vomiting, and was discharged in the evening.
On May 5, he was again admitted to the ICU of St. Isabel Hospital after allergic bronchitis and fever.
