world of warcraftHere’s a great news for the “World Of Warcraft” online game aficionados. Legendary Pictures, which joined the Warner Brothers in backing movies like “The Dark Knight” and “300″ has reportedly stated on Tuesday, that Sam Raimi, the director of “Spider man” has agreed to make a movie based on the online game, which has a huge fan base all over the world.

Raimi directed the three films of the “Spider man” series and is expected to start shooting for the fourth part this fall, which is scheduled to be released in the year 2011. His signing with the “World of Warcraft” makes the film one of the strongest bets on the Warner schedule as early as 2012.

Blizzard Entertainment, which actually introduced its first War craft game in 1994, began developing the movie version of the game along with the Legendary Pictures three years ago. With more than 11 million monthly subscribers (the amount of fan base can be realized by the immense number of subscribers), the Warcraft series has been termed as the most heavily played of the multi-player online games, which pits player against one another through the online phenomenon known as the internet.

Warner, which is expected to be a co-financier of the “Warcraft” movie and to distribute it, has been craving for the release of the film. The studio had earlier showed interest but later backed out from a project that dealt with the “The Justice League Of America”, which consists of all the favorite comic characters in a single film.

It was not immediately clear about when the productions will get rolling as Mr. Raimi is busy directing his fourth venture on the “Spider man ” series.
