June 25, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): Indian music maestro AR Rahman has been performing overseas since last month and has received high appreciation for all his performances in the “Jai Ho’ concert.
But recently, the Oscar winning composer had to cancel the North American leg of his “Jai Ho Concert: The Journey Home World Tour”, as a lighting rig collapsed in Detroit just before the show.
Rahman was scheduled to perform at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto. But he had to cancel the tour because of technical problems, disappointing more than 25000 fans in the process.
Rahman wrote on his facebook page while giving information about the incident.
“My dear friends, fans and well-wishers, it might be known to you that our tour members incredibly escaped a big tragedy in Detroit, last Saturday, when a portion of the Pontiac Silverdome infrastructure collapsed on our set. All the artists, musicians, singers, dancers and technicians (including me) have got a second life.”
Rahman added, “After this incidence, we have planned to postpone the North American leg of this tour. We will reschedule the dates later. Now, we will be going for the concerts in UK and Europe. Considering the circumstances, this is the best option we have.”
The maestro further added, “I am sorry for the inconvenience caused to our friends here in US and Canada. It might come as a blessing in disguise as we can perform with much more energy later.”
The “Jai Ho’ tour takes our Oscar winning musician on a world tour to US, France, Canada, Holland, Switzerland and Britain. He has already enthralled the audience in New York, Atlantic City and Chicago with his powerful performances.
