April 8, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): AR Rahman’s KM Music Conservatory, which claims that after receiving training there, one can perform within nine months, is in plans to bring the famous Russian style in piano to India. Admissions at the Conservatory are currently on.
Indo-American statesman Rajan Zed appreciated Rahman for bridging the gap between eastern and western music so as to strengthen the worldwide market and importance of Indian music. He also added that Rahman’s Conservatory should provide serious musical training to students and become one of the world’s top conservatories instead of giving shortcuts to musical success.
He also asserted that Rahman should help to nurture the next generation with the richness of Indian music, whose theory originated in the ancient Hindu scripture, Sama-Veda.
KM Music Conservatory, in Chennai’s Kodambakkam area, has been founded by Rahman. It offers training in both Indian and Western music. International faculty has been assembled at the Conservatory.
