June 26, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe is going to take on the avatar of a German soldier in his next film. He has been signed to essay the lead role in the remake of the film All Quiet On The Western Front, which was a classic war movie.
The 20 year old Daniel will don the role of soldier Paul Baumer, who battles in the World War I. The filmmakers are very confident of his acting caliber. Paul is shown as a teenager, who enters the army to learn the trick of battle.
Producer Ian Stokell said, “The vulnerability and innocence of the character, is nicely brought by Daniel. The role demands a balance between believability and intensity and we believe he can do that.”
Stokell added, “We were very excited to see his love for the script.”
Earlier too, Radcliffe played the role of soldier of World War I for a TV drama “My Boy Jack’ in 2007. He essayed the role of the son of author Rudyard Kipling.
The shooting of the film is likely to start in 2012.
