Radcliffe says Royal Family symbolises whats wrong with UKJanuary 28th, 2009 - 3:13 pm ICT by ANI
London, January 28 (ANI): Daniel Radcliffe has revealed he sees no use of the monarchy and rather thinks the royal family to be emblematic of what is “wrong” with Britain.
The Harry Potter actor confessed he was far from being an admirer of the British blue blood, insisting their glorification was without requirement.
“I am not a royalist. Not at all, the Daily Express quoted him as telling the Daily Beast website.
I just don”t see the use of the monarchy - though I”m (a) fierce patriot. I”m proud proud proud of being English, but I think the monarchy symbolises a lot of what was wrong with the country.
Not that they”re doing anything wrong - but that symbol of class division is not something I particularly like - and I am a very upper-middle-class kid,” he added.
The 19-year-old further criticized Prince Harry, who was recently accused of racism after calling a fellow Asian cadet our little Paki friend in a three-year-old home video.
He said: “I have nothing against the royals as people. I”ve never met them. But in terms of that particular comment about Pakistanis, Prince Harry said a very stupid thing.
He was probably very young at the time. I hope he has learned since not to say such a thing or at least learned not to be filmed saying it. The big deal to me was his wearing a Nazi uniform at that costume party.”
Harry had come under fire in 2005 when he was snapped wearing a Nazi soldier uniform at a friend’’s fancy dress party. (ANI)
