The Miss Universe Organization and it’s head, Donald Trump, have decided Miss California, Carrie Prejean, will retain her title despite having lied about racy photos which show her in bright pink underwear and another set which show her breasts and nipples.

The photographs were obtained by media website TMZ and repudiate claims by Ms Prejean that she had never had nude or semi-nude photographs taken of her, apart from a private family shoot that she choreographed.

At a press conference in New York Donald Trump defended the Miss California winner saying, “she gave a very, very honest answer when asked a very tough question. It’s the same answer the president of the United States gave. It’s the same answer many people give.

“We’ve reviewed the pictures very carefully. We have determined that the pictures taken are fine. So we’ve made a determination that the pictures taken were acceptable and fine and Carrie will remain Miss California until the next pageant in November.

Ms Prejean expressed her gratitude to Mr Trump, the Miss California Organization and the Miss Universe Organization for their support and to God for “trusting me with this large task and giving me the strength to stand by my beliefs”.

Ms Prejean also slammed a pageant judge for starting a cultural firestorm in the media describing his actions as “self promoting and hateful.”
