Rachel Maddow Makes Name for Self by Sparring With Bill O’Reilly

Aug 9 (THAINDIAN NEWS) At one time, the cable news channels were almost dominated by the ongoing feuds between Bill O’Reilly and Keith Olbermann, and now that Olbermann is busy with other things, Rachel Maddow had decided to boost her own name into popularity by picking up in the war against O’Reilly and ‘FOX’ News, and sparring in Latin, along with terms such as “bullpucky”.
Maddow attacked O’Reilly and the ‘FOX’ News network by claiming that the stories which they run are exaggerated and pretty much made-up and racist. O’Reilly struck back by stating that Maddow was a “far-left loon” and “uber-leftist”.
In a sit down interview with David Letterman earlier in the week, Maddow called the people from Fox News, “slimeballs” and claimed that the news network boosts the fears that white people have of black people. O’Reilly said that her claims were a “preposterous…paranoid, dishonest rant” and said that she had made the statements without one shred of evidence.
Maddow’s answer to this was to call O’Reilly’s assertion “stupid” and addressed O’Reilly with, “you may not like that diagnosis of what Fox has been up to, but to say there’s no evidence…that’s bullpucky.” But she decided to come back with perhaps a slightly more intelligent sounding return, since the wording involved a little Latin.
Maddow stated that O’Reilly’s attacks on her were not “ad hominem”, they’re “argumentum ad populum”, and she added, “It’s him saying that there’s no evidence to back up my claim that Fox News consistently runs stories it says are news, but that nobody else really covers– stories that are ginned up, exaggerated, caricatured, in some cases just flat-out made up scare stories designed to make white people afraid of black people. Designed to make it seem that black people– or in some cases, immigrants– are threatening white people and taking what is rightfully theirs.” In other words, she still thinks it’s bullpucky.
