Raavanan To Release In The US

June 12, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): Mani Ratnam’s long-awaited Tamil film Ravanaan, starring Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Vikram will be released in the US on June 18. Big Pictures will release the Tamil and Telugu versions of the movie in over 40 screens across 30 cities in the US including the self-owned BIG Cinemas’ theatres.

Abhishek Bachchan, is playing the lead role opposite Aishwarya in the Hindi version Raavan. In the Telugu version, the film is titled Villain, with Vikram and Prithviraj Sukumaran playing the lead roles with Ash.

The producers are claiming Raavanan to be one of the biggest releases of South Indian films in the US. They are targeting the vast regional market there.

Anil Arjun, Reliance MediaWorks CEO, stated “We are committed to bring quality films of regional languages to the audiences waiting in different parts of the world.”

Ratnam’s banner “Madras Talkies’ has co-produced Raavanan and Oscar-winning music composer AR Rahman has scored the music for the film.

Santosh Sivan and Manikandan has done the cinematography and the film A Sreekar Prasad the editing.

The film is a fusion of drama, action, love and music and has been shot in the jungles of Kerala, Jhansi, Kolkata, Ooty and in Maharashtra at Mahabaleshwar and in the Malshej Ghats.

We hope, Raavanan becomes successful and manages to entertain the viewers in US!
