June 12, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Jordan’s Queen Noor recently addressed a small group of reporters in Hollywood to discuss the upcoming movie on nuclear weapons.
The movie which is about nuclear bomb proliferation is Queen Noor’s first step in Hollywood. The film named ‘Countdown to Zero’ is set to hit theaters in the US in July this year.
Queen Noor has been involved in the project as a special consultant. During the lunch on Friday at the Four Seasons Hotel In Beverly Hills the queen said that its a whole new world for her. She was joined by Lawrence Bender and Diane Weyermann of Participant Media who were also part of the Oscar-winning documentary ‘An Inconvenient Truth’.
The 90-minute documentary will highlight the dangers of nuclear weapons to the entire world. The original version was found to be ‘too American-centric’ by the Queen and she then suggested some points to give the documentary a more global appeal.
The message of the movie is that the world is at the risk of a major explosion that can happen due to an act of terrorism, a human error or a diplomatic failure. With nine nations possessing powerful nuclear weapons it is important the dangers are revealed to the world.
As a founding member of ‘Global Zero’, an initiative to phase out all the nuclear weapons, Queen Noor is the most suited personality to get the message across.
The documentary features interviews of Ex-British Prime Minister Tony Blair, ex-US President Jimmy Carter, former USSR General Secretary Mikhail Gorbachev and the late Ex-Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara and many other important personalities who have spoken for the cause.
