t1larglightsabercourtesyJuly 7, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The creator of the iconic Star Wars series George Lucas is up in arms against the Hong Kong based entity Wicked Lasers as the latter is selling a laser device that he feels has been inspired by the lightsaber popularized by the series. Lucas films Ltd has shot a letter to the company that is making and selling the device. The letter makes it clear in case Wicked laser does not refrain from making and selling the gadget it will face stern legal actions from Lucas Films. According to the opinion of George Lucas the device is way to similar to the well known lightsaber swords. The company also feels that the gadget is harmful for the users and is capable of causing physical damage.

No matter how angry George Lucas is over the matter, Wicked laser has not accepted the claims so far. The company is not in a mood to put a stop to the production and sales of the gadget. Steve Liu who is the company’s CEO has said that the company is not new in the field. They have been producing similar type of gadgets for several years and they never had any intention to copy from the design of star war’s popular device. He said that the comparison made by Lucas films is quite impractical. The CEO also said that the gadget is used in military and industrial fields.

Some technology review sites have also said that Pro Arctic Laser does look very similar to the lightsaber swords. This is not the first time George Lucas has cried foul over trademark and copyright infringement though. He sued a Maryland based company earlier on this issue.
