Priya Hassan’s Petition Plea
August 21st, 2009 - 12:37 pm ICT by Sampurn WireRecently, actress and director Priya Hassan approached the Karnataka High Court to question the selection of films for subsidy to eligible films by the state government. The court has heard her plea and asked the state government to illuminate the matter or confess its subsidy norms.
Since the writ petition was accepted, the Karnataka Government has to explain the matter and give reasons as to why Priya Hassan’s film Jambada Hudugi was not accepted, while some other not so eligible films were chosen. Veteran director Siddalingaiah is the head of the selection committee formed by the government. The selection of thirty other films over Yogaraj Bhat’s Gaalipata and Priya Haasan’s Jambada Hudugi led to a controversy.
